A more in-depth About me

As a young kid with too much energy I always remember playing dress up in my parents' closet. Clothes, fashion, performing, and art have always been a central part of my life. After being on stage for many years as a child and into high school, I decided to pursue a degree in technical theatre, and there discovered my niche for needle and thread.
Since receiving my Bachelors in Theatre Technology/Design from The University of South Dakota, my career has taken me across the states and cities: from Omaha, Nebraska, to Ohio, Tampa, Santa Fe, and finally New York City where I currently reside now. Through these destinations I have continued to perfect my skills in the various fields of costume technology. This includes, but not limited to: Regional Theatre, Amusement Parks, Cruise Lines, Dance, Opera, Broadway, TV, and Film. These worlds of entertainment have allowed me to grasp the many techniques that can be used to construct costumes to maintain sewing efficiency, alterability, and quality.
As a professional my specialty lies in stretch wear, evening gowns, dress making, and soft tailoring. I believe the drape, the cut, and the seaming of any garment needs equal attention to detail across the board in order achieve the highest quality and accuracy.
In addition, I also make custom garments for clients who wish to have a one of a kind piece designed, fit, and made for them under my label Keane Couture. Through this, my aim is to provide the highest quality garment to the individual, and give them a piece that they will truly cherish as a custom work of art with their name on it. My private work mainly involves stretch wear and evening gowns for drag and showgirl competitions. These competitions include Miss Continental, Miss National Showgirl, Miss National Comedy Queen, and other various state and international titles across the nation.
To sum it all up.... I love to sew and I never stop sewing! I am a firm believer in no matter the number of years an individual has been mastering their work, the most important thing is to never stop learning new things and to openly collaborate with others. This is how one continues to grow as an artist. To me, rigidity and content with a finalized book of knowledge showcases artistry that is limited in possibilities. Thank you for taking the time to read about me, and happy sewing!
